Quick Itinerary
Colombian Heritage 13-Day Itinerary
Days 1 - 3 UK - Bogota
You will depart the UK on your international flight to Bogota, Colombia. Arriving in Colombia's historic capital, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
The next day, you will be taken on a half-day city tour to La Candelaria, Bogata’s historic centre. As well as visiting Plaza de Bolivar, which is surrounded by some of Bogota’s most important buildings. You will also visit the Botero Museum, which exhibits some of Fernando Botero’s works of art alongside his own personal collection of paintings from Dali, Matisse, Monet and Picasso. Your last stop will be the internationally renowned Gold Museum, which houses gold pieces, stones, ceramics and textiles from the Quimbaya, Calima, Tayrona, Sinu, Muisca, Tolima, Tumaco and Magdalena cultures.

Days 4 - 5 Neiva & San Agustin
On arrival at Neiva, you will be met and taken to the north to visit the town of Villavieja and the Museo Palenteológico. Then you will visit the Tatacoa Desert, crossing red crevasses eroded by wind and water. During the Tertiary period, the Tatacoa desert was a valley full of fauna, flora and water, but because of climate change all the species have disappeared and the ground has completely dried up, giving space only to cacti and animals that tolerate very high temperatures.
After taking in the scenery of the desert you will be driven to San Agustín, located 270km away, over a paved road. This scenic journey allows views of the extensive floodplains of the Magdalena River valley from 700masl all the way up to 1730masl and in balmy temperatures of 20ºC. After a journey, of approximately 5 hours, you will arrive in San Agustin where you will check into your hotel.
On your full day in San Agustin, you will have a guided tour of the World Heritage Site, the San Agustin Archaeological Park, and the spectacular rocky gorge of the Magdalena River.

Days 6 - 7 Medellin
Today you will fly to Medellin, check in to your hotel and settle in.
On your second day in Medellin, you will visit the social transformation project located in the Comuna 9, where they are training low-income residents in cooking, and entrepreneurship skills, applying techniques and recipes from all over the world with local affordable ingredients and products. Not only will you be introduced to the social transformation of the neighbourhood and visit public renovation projects but you will also have the opportunity to partake in a cooking class, preparing a Colombian or gourmet dish with the social project.
All funds generated on this tour are reinvested in the community project, subsidising training, materials and equipment for low-income participants, and maintenance of the training centre.

Days 8 - 10 Nuqui
Upon arrival in Nuqui, you will take a 40-minute boat ride to Kuka Lodge where you will be spending the next 3 nights.
After enjoying a typical lunch in the region, you will have time off to rest and enjoy the beach of Guachalito or enjoy a walk to the waterfall Cascada del Amor. It is 400m (30 minutes) stroll in the jungle from La Kuka, where crystalline waters tumble over a 4m high waterfall.
On your second day at the lodge, you will have a choice of two activities, enjoying hot springs or visiting a local community. On the way to either activity, you will have time to take in the surrounding beauty of the area as you walk to your destinations.
Spend your last day in paradise relaxing on the beach, visiting indigenous communities, mangroves or waterfalls.

Days 11 - 13 Bogota - UK
Spend another night in Colombia's historic capital. The next day, enjoy breakfast at your accommodation, after which you will be transferred to Bogota airport for your onward flight.
