Explore Historic Sites of the Falklands Conflict

The Falklands War was a ten-week conflict between Argentina and the United Kingdom. Thousands of Argentine and British Soldiers fought for control of the islands after Argentina invaded on the 2nd of April 1982 and claimed sovereignty over them. The conflict lasted a total of 74 days and ended with the Argentine surrender on 14 June 1982, returning the islands to British control. This tour will give you the opportunity to visit many of the key sites and battlefields of the conflict including Goose Green, Stanley and Tumbledown.
You will also have the opportunity to contemplate stunning landscapes and experience the culture of the Falkland Islands, on this 12-day Itinerary.

Battle Tour of the Falkland Islands 12-day Itinerary

Days 1-2 UK - Santiago, Chile

Today you will depart on your international flight to Santiago, Chile, where you'll stay for one night.

Day 3 Stanley, Falkland Islands

Your flight will arrive at Mount Pleasant International Airport or direct from the UK, if arriving with the Royal Air Force from Brize Norton. You will be transferred to your hotel in Stanley where the rest of your time if free to explore the town.

Day 4 Goose Green, Darwin & San Carlos

You will spend the day with a guide who will drive you around the Darwin, Goose Green and San Carlos settlements, exploring the key battle and memorial sites on East Falkland. You will visit the Argentine and British Cemeteries and the memorials such as the Liberation Monument and Paratroopers memorial. The Lieutenant Colonel H Jones memorial marks the spot where the Commanding Officer of 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment was killed as the Battalion advanced on Goose Green, and visit the British Cemetery at San Carlos, site of the British landings in 1982 where a major air and sea battle took place.

Days 5-6 Pebble Island

Travel by plane to Pebble Island where a raid by British Special Forces took place. A guide will take you around the island where you will see remnants of the events of 1982, including the remains of aircraft shot down during the conflict, the Learjet Memorial and the HMS Coventry Memorial.

Days 7-9 Stanley

The next destination will be Stanley. You will be transferred to your accommodation and will have the rest of the day to explore the capital.

The following day will be an excursion with a guide to the site of the battle of Mount Harriet, where you can still see remnants of Argentine equipment on the field. From there, you will continue to Fitzroy settlement and observe memorials for the Welsh Guards and RFA, which is also the site of the Sir Galahad and Sir Tristram bombing.

On day 9, you will decide whether you want to pursue the Tour to Mount Longdon and Wireless Ridge – two sites recaptured by 3 and 2 Parachute Regiment respectively, or a Tour of Mount Tumbledown where the British launched an assault and succeeded in driving back Argentinian forces.

Days 10-12 Depart the Falkland Islands for Santiago, Chile

Transfer by plane from the Falkland Islands back to Santiago and enjoy a final night in the Chilean capital. On day 11, transfer to the airport for your onward flight to the UK, arriving back on day 12.
