Begin your holiday in the heart of Peru's bustling capital, Lima, before flying on to the ancient colonial city of Arequipa and discovering its many treasures. The holiday then moves on through the Colca Canyon for some amazing scenery before visiting the fascinating Uros floating islands on Lake Titicaca. Next, it's an all-aboard the famous Titicaca train to Cusco, where you will transfer to the Sacred Valley to explore the ancient ruins of Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. You will then head to the main highlight of the tour, the spectacular Inca citadel of Machu Picchu! Our expert guide will take you around this fascinating archaeological complex and explain all about the history of the Incan Empire. End your tour with 2 nights back in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Cusco, before a final night in Lima.

Day 1 - Lima

Arrive in Lima for a night in Peru's bustling capital city. 

Days 2 & 3 - Arequipa

Discover Lima’s old town on a half-day city tour, before flying to Arequipa.  This striking city is home to beautiful colonial buildings and churches built out of white volcanic stone, against a backdrop of huge volcanoes.

Enjoy a half-day tour of the city, including the majestic Santa Catalina Monastery, which dominates the main plaza.

Day 4 - Colca Canyon

Depart Arequipa early for a scenic journey across a land of snow-covered volcanoes, inhospitable pampas, and incredibly beautiful quaint villages, arriving finally in the Colca Valley.

The Colca Canyon in southern Peru's Arequipa region is an area of astounding scenic beauty, and one of Peru's top tourist destinations. It is best known as one of the world's deepest canyons, reaching a depth of 4,160 metres, whose depth can most easily be appreciated from the Cruz del Condor, a viewpoint where Andean Condors can be seen most days throughout the year.

Days 5 & 6 - Lake Titicaca (Puno)

Lake Titicaca is situated on the border between Peru and Bolivia. It’s the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable body of water in the world, at an altitude of 3,812 m.a.s.l. In Andean belief, Titicaca is the birthplace of the sun. Beautiful blue skies contrast with bitterly cold nights. Enchanting and in many ways singular, the shimmering deep blue Lake Titicaca is the longtime home of highland cultures steeped in traditional and very old ways of life.

Take a boat across the beautiful water of Lake Titicaca to visit the unique communities that inhabit the floating islands built entirely of totora reeds.

Day 7 - Puno - Cusco - Sacred Valley

Live an authentic experience onboard the Titicaca Train, considered one of the top ten railway journeys in the world. Over around 10 hours you will enjoy the Peruvian highlands from your observation car where you have the chance to view llamas, alpacas and beautiful natural scenery. A three-course lunch will be served on board, before stopping at La Raya, which is the highest point on the route. After your arrival in Cusco, you will be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. 

Day 8 - Ollantaytambo & Chinchero

Today you will visit the town of Chinchero, a traditional Cusco urban centre located at an elevated point with a beautiful view of the valley. The inhabitants of this place preserve the traditions and knowledge inherited from the Incas and display them in their clothes and customs. Continue to the town and archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, inhabited uninterruptedly since Inca times, and explore the iconic fortress, built next to the mountain. 

Day 9 - Machu Picchu

Today will be an unforgettable day as you visit one of the seven wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. Take a scenic train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes Station, before a final bus ride to the archaeological complex. You will enjoy a guided tour of the marvellous citadel, an awe-inspiring experience where your guide will explain the different legends and theories behind Machu Picchu.

The next morning, a second entry ticket is included for you to further explore the citadel at your own leisure (unguided).

Days 10 & 11 - Cusco

After your morning at Machu Picchu, you will take the train to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cusco. Discover the charming streets of the Inca capital on a half-day city tour including San Blas and the San Pedro market.

Day 12 - Lima

Enjoy time at leisure to explore Cusco some more before flying back to Lima for your final night.

Day 13 - Depart Lima

You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

Day 14 - Arrive back in the UK

Today you will land back in the UK from Peru
