For the latest installment of Our Routes series dedicated to sharing travel experiences from our experts all over Latin America, our co-founder and director Martin Johnson and wife, Senior Product Executive Sarah Johnson, share with us the highlights of their whistle-stop tour of Sao Paolo and the beauty of Bahia in Brazil.
Sao Paulo and Bahia (Santo Andre and Trancoso).
We flew LATAM to Sao Paulo and then onwards to Porto Seguro.
First time in these areas.
Trancoso was really beautiful and we loved the Quadrado. The beach at the Fasano Trancoso was spectacular.
A walk along the beach from Estrela D’Água in Santo Andre and getting caught in a rainstorm. We managed to find a great little local bar and spent the afternoon there watching the rain and passing boats.
We had a wonderful city tour in Sao Paulo which really brought the city to life and revealed some great local foodie spots, beautiful parks and interesting street art.
I recommend getting recommendations for restaurants and bars in Sao Paulo as there are so many great ones but all are spread quite far apart so you need to have a bit of a plan.
We had a great meal at a restaurant called Ema Sao Paolo, a cosy little place with an open kitchen and an incredible tasting menu, definitely worth a visit! In Bahia it was all about the seafood, with Moqueca, a Brazilian fish stew being a favourite. I absolutely loved the Acai bowls too, either with granola, nuts and banana at breakfast or as a poolside snack, this was my daily treat!
My favourite photo was of our little monkey friends who came to visit each morning at breakfast at Estrela D’Água in Trancoso.
Delicious, Relaxing, Beautiful.
